Today's family is faced with so many options and choices. Especially in industrialized countries, products have been packaged to be appealing to the eye and the bombardment of information, infomercials, product endorsements, advertising slogans and the like have at the very least made people aware of the benefits of a product, or at the very worse, made them confused in making a decision on what product to purchase.



Take for example food; the number of commercials for food products has added more pounds to the American family who have become obese. Getting them on a healthy weight loss diet is a billion dollar industry and there are even pre-cooked, ready to eat diet meals from the various diets available from weight watchers, Jenny Craig, the south beach diet and Scarsdale to name a few. Their meals are made for one's convenience. But are they any good? Well, the answer is it depends. Food is relative to one's taste and history. On the history part, it has to do with the particular food you grew up with-the so called comfort foods enjoyed as a youngster. Some may even argue that food extenders and preservatives which are designed to extend the shelf life of food are the main cause of obesity and that eating food fresh is the way to go. There may be some truth to this but both sides; those pro and anti preservatives, have studies that support their respective causes. It all boils down to preference and with what one is comfortable with. We all have choices to consider when doing with food and the end result being that the choice is yours to make.




A balanced life is the best solution in the current quality of life questions we face. Less stress, exercise, and enjoying other things are some considerations that are deemed necessary for balancing or attaining a decent quality of life. Do not worry about the work stuff. After all, those problems will still be there come Monday morning and perhaps by not thinking about it and doing some other activity, the answer may come to you. A more relaxed state of mind often enables one to subconsciously find a solution to the problem. Take time to sweat and be active with your family or your loved one. Pick up a sport or reacquaint yourself to one you used to enjoy as a kid. Go out of town on weekends. Go and take a coastal drive around your area or take a weekend spa getaway. No one ever said in his or her dying bed that they wished they spent more time in work.
